The Dirndl Diaspora is a play written by Kristen Caven for Oakland’s Oaktobefest in the Dimond District.
The animated film premiered in 2020 at the world’s first “online Oktoberfest!” and received an honorable mention in the 2023 LA Underground Film Forum.

But she knows more about pleats than business—and now she has to help fight Nazis, too?
Kristen Caven’s hilarious new “spiel show” is about work and creativity, language and secrets, horror stories and fashion fantasies, building positive futures out of complicated pasts, and the beauty of a circle of women.
The community is invited to a free showing at 2pm upstairs at the Diamond Library, with a discussion of its themes afterwards.
